They call it "Bio_Beer"!  The beer has 3 genes spliced into it that produce "resveratol", the same chemical found in red wine It is thought that it may prevent people from contracting Cancer, Diabetes,and Alzheimer's.(along with other age related conditions)

There were 8 students, graduate and under graduate who created the bio_beer. They are part of the "Internationally Genetically Engineered Machine".(iGEM) It is a competition. The jamboree is an annual event. It took place at MIT on November 8 and 9th.

This year 85 teams signed up for the event from around the world. ( Synthetic biology studies)

Another project they are working on his the "Bacuum" cleaner. This vacuum can seek out and degrade harmful hydrocarbons in ground water and devices to remove arsenic from drinking water.
