    Bond is back

Casino Royal and it's predecessor Quantum of Solace the newest installment of the James Bond films are the first in forever that are worth seeing and enjoying. Prior to these two films the Bond franchise had deteriorated into a kind of Ice Capades style farce. Action films by their very nature defy logic and require much suspension of disbelief. Still, when absurdity enters the mix as it did in a big way with many before Casino Royal, well, average movie goes just stay away, no matter how much we wish for a Bond even remotely resembling the Sean Connery of the originals.  Craig is the first Bond to even come close to Connery, and these two films are the first in a long time to resemble and pay some homage to the mastery of the originals. The Borne franchise, especially the original, showed the word what a modern Bond should resemble. Thank God someone was taking notice. Like Batman begins and The Dark Knight, these two Bond films give the new millennium crowd and fans of the originals a very nice blend of aspects to please both nicely.

Was the film perfect? No. Could it have been better? Sure. But with the current state of a sea of never ending garbage being produced this was at least above par for a franchise I considered dead.

The theatre was packed, The crowd was enthusiastic and my Brother, my son and I were riveted from the moment the car chase began.

And for Star Trek fans out there the trailer for the re-boot of that series played before the film and had me excited and feeling quite pleased even before the Quantum began.

All in all a good experience.
