Protest prop 8 in LA. Pt 2
Today in Los Angeles City Hall thousands of people meet to protest Proposition 8. The anti guy-marriage ammendment was aproved by a 52% mayority on Nov 4.
I went there via Metro, and unusual choice for Los Angeles. I am sure the usual riders of the Metro on a Saturday morning noticed the change on demographics. The train was packed. A men who boarded the Metro in a later station say out-loud "this is the gayest train I've ever seem" to the raucous laughter of people who overheard him.
Today was unusually warm for November. Perfect day for the protest. Four anti-guy men shouted at the crowd from behind a line of police officers. I didn't notice any tension with the police, the crowd was very peaceful despite the ubiquitous "no more Mr nice guy" signs.
The guess speakers were more or less eloquent all of them where very passionate. There anger was mostly directed to the Mormon church, whom they accused of spending $72 millions on a Yes on Prop 8 campaign. There message was "we are going to take this to the Supreme Court and if history is a guide this should go the way other civil right challenges went and favor our cause.
