Soldiers' Angels Christmas For The Troops

A feel-good human interest story for the holiday season.........

The Georgia chapter of the military morale organization, Soldiers Angels packed Christmas stocking bags for 5000 troops deployed in Iraq out of Fort Stewart, GA.  Over 100,000 stocking stuffers were collected completely through public donations by hundreds of volunteers throughout the state, and packed at the National Guard Armory in Douglasville, GA on November 15th.  The stockings include much needed items such as socks, lip balm, and toothbrushes... as well as comfort items for the holidays such as hot chocolate, candy, and Christmas cards made by local school children to lift the soldiers' spirits this Christmas and let them know that they are being remembered for the holidays.  The Georgia project is but one small portion of Soldiers' Angels' national goal to get holiday packages to all 180,000 troops in the war zones this year.  For more information about what Soldiers' Angels is doing for our brave military overseas this Christmas, or to contribute your time or a donation to the effort, please check out the "Wrapped In Holiday Spirit" link at the organization's website: www.soldiersangels.org
