Why Bail out the Big 3?

As I sit here reading the reports and seeing the UAW begging for the government to intervene, I can't help but feel like they did this to themselves. Back over the summer when Americans were begging for lower gas prices and more efficient vehicles, the auto industry was still producing gas guzzling SUVs and still putting outrageous pricetags on their products. Why couldn't they produce their European lines in the US? I know Ford's European line is smaller, gas efficient and cheaper than their American line. I know a lot of people will say "I don't want to drive around in a cracker box" well, you don't need to drive around in a TANK either. I'm of the mind that if you're driving around by yourself, you don't need a Escalade to do it.

Bailing out the big 3 is going to open a door to every other industry who has a failure that is going to try to blame it on the economy. The Coal and Steel Industries? Retailers, Hollywood? The toy industry? oh yeah, lets throw the fashion industry in there for good measure. Everyone get in line! Uncle Sam apparently has HUGE pockets lined with gold bricks.

I am ashamed of these companies and their multimillion dollar CEOs.
