Bob Jones Univeristy - More apologies to come??

Great! Bob Jones submitted an apology for being racist. Now I would like them to submit apologies to all who are considered Christians and following the teachings of the Bible because to me, they are among the many who are putting Christians to shame.

They admitted their policies were based on "societal beliefs and not Scripture." Well guess what, there are other societal beliefs they need to consider. When I attended in 2001, I was told that I could not listen to certain types of music including various genres of Christian music.

In acknowledging their now un-racial views, I would like to know if they are accepting every aspect that goes along with that. Like the fact that different groups of people are accustomed to different types of music. I was told I was wrong for listening to types of Christian music other than the classical hymn type music. I now happen to play CHRISTIAN HIP-HOP Sunday mornings on a secular station. I would like to know if they still consider me wrong for trying to reach the lost through this medium.

I consider my time spent at BJU a huge stumbling block in my faith. I was not able to worship the SAME God they did in the way I was accustomed to, based on the SAME Bible they were reading. I was told that I was wrong for listening to Christian artist such as Avalon or Carmen or Christian rap artist such as John Reuben. So instead of conforming to their views, I rebelled against their ‘religion' altogether. I even dressed as a Muslim woman with the scarf covering my face and everything to attend an ‘artist series.' How many looks of HATE I got. I had NO ONE come to talk to me or to share the Gospel with me that night.

My entire point is we still have institutions like this that are stuck in the past and are not progressing with the times. No, it's never going to be Biblically ok to be a homosexual. But it's a Biblical principal that we are supposed to love all of God's people and treat them with respect. You cannot teach someone about the love of Jesus when you yourself do not exhibit THAT love. Jesus was out among the sinners not behind some 4 to 5 gates enclosing a campus. He was telling them of their sin based on Biblical principals' not cultural standards.

No, people may not like the Hip-Hop culture but there are many who are saved and who are doing what they are supposed to by reaching the lost while remaining faithful to the scriptures. They may not wear khakis pants and a tie or a skirt that is two inches below the knee but they are modest in dress by the standards of our culture and the Bible.

So again, now that Bob Jones University as apologized for their racial views, will they now apologize for their Biblical views that does not agree with Scripture?
