Russia to provide gas supply to Tskhinvali evading Georgia
Russia will provide gas supply to Tskhinvali through a new pipeline evading Georgia, the Gazprom gas extractor Russian company voices the Kremlin's another political decision. The spokesman of the company told the Ekho Moskvy that due to the Gori-Tskhinvali gas pipeline damaged in consequence of the Russian-Georgian war, the company is compelled to build a new gas main from North Ossetia.
Moscow intends to bring the new pipeline into action by the next year. The Gazprom says that their friend Tskhinvali will cover the price for used gas from the credits allowed by the Kremlin. Hence, the price will be low.
Profitability of the new gas pipeline is not discussed in Moscow. Herewith Georgian and Russian experts confirm that the project is only political and economically very unprofitable. Russia more cares about blocking the damaged pipeline to use it as a political alibi for building the new gas pipeline.
The Georgian side is not able to fix the pipeline damaged during the Russian-Georgian war so far because the gas pipeline is situated on the occupied territory.
