This iReport is part of an assignment:
Reactions to Mumbai attacks |
Mumbai
Was in Mumbai last week at the Taj and had several meals at Leopold's.
Everyone was very welcoming and friendly at these places, it's upsetting to think of these good people as terrorist targets.
As of Nov. 20, the Taj had armed guards at the entrances and metal detectors. All bags etc. were searched by guards before entering the Taj and the same at other large hotels in Mumbai.
CNN has repeatedly reported that security measure at the Taj (and possibly other hotels) were cancelled as of ten days ago. This is clearly not accurate, as CNN's own footage of the Taj, post-attacks, shows the security station, including the metal detector and the table where bags are searched. Also, CNN reports that the Taj has "many" entrances, but hotel guests and visitors have only two, one each at the new tower and the old building, each with a security station.
Attached are a few photos of the Taj and a couple views in the old lobby of the grand stairway and up into the dome.
The photo of Leopold's shows the Taj tower in the background, giving an idea the their proximity to each other.
