Who is your hero? |
Crazy Larry Says No to Trash
Larry Melnik had his name legally changed to "Crazy Larry", an affectionate nickname given to him by the children in his hometown of Banff, Alberta.
Every year, Crazy Larry does a 72 hour marathon of hope ending at 9am Christmas morning. When he's not making balloon animals for local kids or volunteering (even to sleep in the street overnight to protect Christmas decorations) at every town event, Crazy Larry travels the roadways picking up litter to protect the wildlife in Banff National Park.
In 2007, Crazy Larry was awarded the Star of Alberta award for volunteerism by the Alberta provincial government.
