BEAUTIFUL MUM FOUND DEAD IN MUMBAI
29 November 2008: This is the picture of 53 year-old Malaysian Hema Kasipillay, mother of two lovely teenaged children, who is found DEAD in her hotel room.
She was earlier reported to be missing in Mumbai and was believed to be in Taj hotel when the attack struck.
A text message from general Wan Zaidi in Mumbai read, "Mrs Hema Kasipillay was found dead in her hotel room at 7.30pm".
The news of her death reached me shortly after she was found dead in her room.
It was Hema first official trip to Mumbai. She had checked into a room on the sixth floor of the hotel and was very unfortunate that she chose to stay at the more sentimental old wing of the hotel where much of the action was.
This was revealed by her employer, Hannover Rückversicherung AG, after making contact with her through her Blackberry, just moments after the gunmen stormed the hotel on Wednesday.
"We text each other for several minutes before the line was cut off," said Ravinder Singh, the company's deputy general manager (South and South East Asia).
Her husband, a security company manager, was looking frantically to find her. He has been knocking on every hospital door in Mumbai to trace Hema, a German insurance company underwriter, but to no avail.
"That night (Nov 27), I even sent her an SMS but there was no message from her. I came here to search for her...she may be somewhere (lying) unconsious or may be admitted in some hospital. I hope I can get to her," the husband said. He was at the hotel looking for clues today.
He was worried as Hema suffers from a heart problem and high blood pressure and needs regular medication.
One of the two German colleagues who managed to escape, was holed up in his hotel room for 13 hours before Indian commandos rescued him. The other happened to be at the business centre on the ground floor and was rescued six hours later.
The first executive, who was traumatised, left for Germany the next day while the second man is leaving tonight.
