    Mumbai terrorist attacks

The attacks in Mumbai are the evidence that fight against terrorism is still a growing challenge. For years India has fought this war with great sensibility and restrain.

Whether it was the Kargil war or the attack on India’s parliament both times India showed great restrain in dealing with these attacks and not reacted with a unilateral full-scale war against Pakistan from where these attacks originated from, India showed restrain so that lives of thousands of innocent Indians and Pakistanis may not be lost due to the actions of few rouge individuals. India and Indians had put faith in diplomacy and international co-operation to weed out terrorists from countries like Pakistan.  If India’s restrain and faith in the world is not answered even now and nations sympathetic to terrorists are allowed to blackmail the world with fears of even more violence then this would come as encouragement to those who wish to use terrorism as a valid means to the goal. Violence and terrorisim would become the norm to settle any issues world over. Those who would trust in peaceful negotiations and avoid wars would be seen as weak and those who take unilateral violent actions would be looked upon as men of action.

India and Pakistan are two key nations in the war against terrorism. After the Mumbai attacks both the nations are poised to stand on opposite ends to each other. In the war against terror interest of one will be favored over the other.  Which of this nation will be favored will decide if terrorism could ever be really defeated.
