Ride along with Critical Mass |
york second critical mass,
Critical Mass is a positive world wide movement
where people come together to celebrate bikes, ride, bikes, build
community, and raise awareness of cyclists on the road and there right
to the road. Critical Mass is an unsanctioned ride with no permits. No
one is in charge. It is a community promoted ride and everyone is
encouraged to do their part to spread the word. Each city and town does
their rides differently. in york we meet at the square at 530 on the
last Friday of each month, so come out and have fun. any one with a
bike come out- if you work that day call off sick. find a babysitter if
you have kids or strap a baby seat to the back. do anything you have to
do to come out. any age any bike any race come out and lets all bike on
the last Friday of each month. are best month was in July we had 21 people. but in a town where people are fair weather riders it is hard to get those numbers out for the ride. we are not new york city or california that get close to 2 thousands. but we keep a steady 7 dedicated people that show up. as being one of the craters of York critical mass. we are trying every month to get people aware of us bikers that commute to work and school everyday. but its hard when people in are town are so into their cars and no one rides a bikes. but we make due with what we got and who got and we have a blast. usually we all convene over at a freinds house and make alot of vegan food. as far as cops we had one cop on a bike follow us for awhile but that was during harley davidson weekend. and we had few thousand of bikers in my town. so they had cops everywhere. we actually got to ride in with the motorcycle parade that was fun. we have a long way to go to get those numbers that some other big cities get. but ia m sure that we will get there one day. and that r town will bike freindly. it would even be cool if everyone or a good percent bikes to school and work. but thats a long way off,.
