    Vital Signs

9 yr old boy attacked by Great Dane & Bull Mastiff

On Black Friday, Nov 28, 2008, my son, Talbot Boquet, was attacked in my back yard by the neighbors free-roaming Great Dane and Bull Mastiff.  He was airlifted to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta, GA with multiple lacerations, puntures, and bites to his whole body.  These dogs tore all of his clothes off and dragged him through the dirt in the yard chewing at his arms and legs. The stitches were too many to count. Just his arm has 40 stitches and his leg has more than that with drainage tubes attached inside the lacerations.  My son will have to undergo occupational and physical therapy because his leg is numb from the thigh down to the knee and he can't move his left arm.  The Great Dane will be put to sleep.  It had attacked workers in a veterinarian office last week when Lisa Fox, the owner brought it to be neutered and was told to have it put to sleep, but instead she let it roam the neighborhood freely and was in my yard on a daily basis.  She is fighting to save the Bull Mastiff from being labeled a "Dangerous Dog" so it can also roam freely again and attack someone else.  There will be a hearing at the Upson County Commissioner's Office on Monday, Dec 8, 2008 to declare this dog a dangerous dog, where she will have to have $15,000 liability insurance to keep the dog and keep it penned up for good.  She also has a Greyhound that roams the neighborhood also and Upson County does not have a mandatory leash law for certain areas when the Animal Control Director, Smart Webb, has been before the commissioner on numerous occasions for this law to be passed and maybe this will get it passed finally.  Its a shame it has to take something like this to happen for the law to pass.
