Stuck in Thailand? |
Thai government stops tourists hotel allowance 12/8
12/5/2008
Today the Thai government has announced an official statement that they will stop the tourist Hotel/meals daily allowance of 2000 bot on Dec 8th. The 3-5 star Hotels were the only ones allowed to deal with this allotment so many tourists moved to those hotels from low end hotels and guest houses. Now the tourists with a flight out after that date are once again having to pay for room and meals. Many are scrambling as the word spreads amoung tourists in Bangkok. Tourists were told that they would be covered until their confirmed flight date but apparently the Thai government has changed its mind. Many tourists flights out of Thailand are past the 15th of December so they will have to make arrangements between now and then. If any tourist is strapped for cash and has no recourse they may contact their Embassy for emergency assistance. Some families may also need to make arrangements to send more money to cover their family members needs in Bangkok. As flights are booked out of Bangkok and tourists will have to wait again at their own expense until their flights depart.
