This iReport is part of an assignment:
More expensive to eat |
Save 50% on Groceries with Local Food Co-Op
Share Colorado is a food co-op that serves over 450 communities in 8 states. By participating in SHARE a family of four can save up to $193.72 on a month's worth of groceries. Everyone qualifies. I spent some time today at my neighborhood distribution location and learned that this is an easy way to enjoy grocery savings quickly while learning special shopping tricks that will stretch your food budget. I felt a sense of community, too. Everyone has to eat, right? Everyone is feeling a budget crunch right now due to rising food and gas costs. On the SHARE web site you can view food packages, find your neighborhood and community distribution location and order your packages online for May. I grabbed a paper for MAY - I'm definitely going to participate in the May distribution - I'm also going to try and find some time to volunteer. The organization is largely run by volunteers. What I like about SHARE -
1. Everyone Qualifies
2. It's GOOD FOOD
3. The web site provides a full menu, shopping list and recipes to use for the packages so you can stretch the food into meals.
4. You can buy all the packages and ala carte items you want.
5. They sell a Pay it Forward food box - an easy way to donate.
6. Everything you'd want to know is available on their web site.
I also have details on 8 state locations and more information details about the program on my web site.
You can call their toll free number and ask about setting up a new distribution point in your community. I'd like to see this program reach far and wide.
The deadline to order for May distribution is May 22.
