I first met Feebe Fearne in the SL London sim, Feebe is the London Events Manager and has just been made the Manager of the Mayfair sim as well. Feebe told me that her SL partner is also her partner in real life, avatar Nijel Charles. Nijel works as a DJ in the SL London Underground Club. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Knightsbridge/120/94/22 I went over to see Feebe and Nijel at their SL island home and I teleported into a beautiful spacious house with elegant Georgian style windows and a welcoming modern fireplace set into the centre of the room, cosily alight with a crackling log fire. Feebe told me that Nijel had built the house and she had designed the interior. The house is situated on their very own island in SL. I asked them how they had met and Feebe told me ‘Nijel was DJing at a club and we talked all night and it just went from there, we felt a connection straight away, this was back in Feb this year' I asked Feebe about the London sim, she told me that she ‘went there and loved the atmosphere, then dragged Nij there' She said she had then got a job as a DJ (then later as the Events Manager) and Nijel started Djing there too. I asked them if their taste in music were the same, Nijel said ‘ye they are really, but I am a punk rocker and Fee is a heavy rocker, he he he' Feebe added ‘except when he sings lol' I asked them if they shared the same tastes in a lot of things right at the beginning. Nijel said ‘ye we did really' Feebe said ‘yes in most things really, SL and rl' I asked if they remembered where they went on their first date, Feebe said ‘yes, we went to Green World an amazing sim where our avatars looked minute and I kept getting lost lol' (Greenies Home Zero-G (9, 15, 31)). I asked her when did she realise that the relationship was a serious one, she said ‘when we couldn't stop talking to each other and I missed him like hell when he was working or sleeping' she continued ‘I think the first time we met I really knew, and Nijel said it was the same for him too' I asked who told who first, Feebe said ‘I think it was about the same time literally, we said it together.' Feebe told me that they talked on Skype all the time, she said ‘we were on SL for hours and hours, I'm sure we hardly slept lol,' I asked if they lived far apart in real life she said ‘no Nijel was living about 80 miles away from me' I asked about their first real life meeting, Feebie said ‘we first met in May this year and we met at the nearest railway station, there was no going back after Nijel got on the train but I wouldn't have had it any other way, we only decided the day before to actually meet up and of course we were both very nervous but in the real sense of the word there was no going back, and he moved in with me 3 weeks later.' I asked them both what they thought about the stories in the press about SL and real life relationships. Feebe said ‘I think that the stories in the press have been one sided' Nijel said ‘well its not for everyone and we have been really lucky I think' Feebe continued ‘they have told the bad side and yes you can get your heart broken in sl but you can in any on-line romance' Nijel said ‘most people will never get what we have, but it does not stop them from looking for it' Feebe said ‘ but you just have to be careful to know not everyone is what they seem' I agreed and said I thought that in any real life romance too, that was the case, Nijel said ‘ye that's what I say too, but because its on a comp(uter) people think its strange.' Feebe said ‘but I trusted Nij from the start and I just had that feeling he was ok and he is. When we first met we had to get used to things, after meeting in rl things moved pretty quick.' Feebe added ‘that was 6 months ago now and I haven't thrown him out yet lol' Nijel said ‘we have been really lucky to have met in here, we would not of met in rl that's for sure, so good things come of this place.' I am sure Nijel is right, he would never have met Feebe by chance in real life because of the distance between them. Nijel told me that he first came into SL to build ‘Ankh-Morpork', a sim featuring a fictional city-state from the novels' Discworld' by Terry Pratchett. (Ankh Morpork, (133, 3, 25). Feebe said Ankh Morpork was another common interest of theirs. I asked Feebie and Nijel if they will have an SL wedding, Feebie told me that they haven't actually married in SL yet as they haven't seemed to have the time, but Nijel said ‘ye we will' Feebe and Nijel got engaged in real life 3 weeks ago and plan a real wedding at the end of May next year. I wish Feebe and Nijel all the happiness in SL and in real life, and wish to thank them for telling me their wonderful story.
