This iReport is part of an assignment:
Your thoughts on 'Nevermind' |
What Nevermind means to me...
It's 1991 and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video is on MTV. The video was so cool and I'd never seen anything like it. The guitar would start off then the drums would come pounding in and the guitars would start roaring. The songs were al melodic as they were heavy. The lyrics had meaning unlike the same stuff we'd heard for years like "Girls Girls Girls" and "Cherry Pie".
Nevermind opened doors for many bands some good and some not so good.
I remember seeing NIRVANA on SNL in 1992 and Kurt Cobain had red hair the band was so raw and unlike anything else on TV or radio. It was incredible... I remember an article around that time talking about the grunge alternative rise and the caption just said "We Won". We Won... did we win because we finally had a band that was meant something again? Nirvana may have been the first truly amazing band to emerge since Zeppelin went away in 1980.... and they may be the last real band since.
Nevermind truly is a classic record
