Your thoughts on 'Nevermind' |
grungelungs
its been a long time since nirvanas nevermind 1st blasted mainstream air waves and like it or not the rock genre has never been the same. sure bands like alice in chains, soundgarden reinvented the heavier side of rock and roll but these bands could not match kurt cobains knack for some good song smithing. the songs on the nevermind album took the best parts of punk,&hard rock ( not metal) and sprinkled them with some gloom & doom lyrics that struck a familar chord with a new generation of kids with a darker teen angst than any generation that came before it.ta morose anarchy was born and was then properly monikered as "grunge". nevermind's impact isnt as grandiose as it once was when it first hit the mainstream, but cobains primal scream/singing is as real as it gets and that will always be his legacy on a genre that has lost its balls and credibility as being the perfect background music for any rebel without a cause. r.i.p. kurt, we hardly knew ye.
