The Next Little Thing: Technology breakthroughs

First test of the MX-311, a new kind of aircraft.

On Dec. 10, 2008, Maximus Willhammer tested his MX- 311 aircraft design for the first time at Arrowrock Reservoir in Idaho. This aircraft is designed to smash land into water, while protecting its cargo from the impact. The aircraft was designed around the idea of finding a safer way to bring data or humans back from space, or it could even be used to drop supplies into remote or hostile areas reliably, which makes chasing that parachute for your information or supplies a thing of the past. I was there for the drop and was glad to be part of some thing new that could save lives and millions of dollars for NASA and companies around the world. This video is some of the only live footage in the world of this event. Maximus told me that they let the press know about the drop, but only one reporter showed up. This reporter was from the Associated Press, and he only had a picture camera with him. So while he got pictures, I bring you video. If you would like to know more Maximus says to check out his web site at www.maximuswillhammer.com or his myspace at www.myspace.com/maximuswillhammer.
