Your thoughts on the auto industry

    Here is an idea...

I heard recently that one of the Execs of the so called "Big 3" stated that there was just no market for cars in the U.S. right now.

So I wonder then, why do they think we need 3 BIG car companies in America? Maybe we only need one.

So then I began to think, why exactly are people fighting for these companies? I assume the only logical reason is because we need to keep people employed. The recession is rough, we need people employed to move through it. Great point, but bad implementation.

If there is no market for cars right now, what makes them think $34B will get them through it? It sounds like basically giving money away.

I understand and believe we need to keep people employeed, so here's the plan.

You may be wondering why I have a picture of a busted up Humvee. What would happen, if instead, the government bought a factory of one of the fallen auto-companies (maybe even flat out-right buy them.. ) and then put the money torward building better military equipment for our troops overseas? What if, the gov't hired all those skilled laborers on a gov't contract to build all these vehicles. Its their trade, might as well put it to use in a sector where its needed.

Under this "job" you don't have to worry about CEO's taking your pensions and incorporating it into their bonus' or anything like that.. since executive leadership teams of corporations are so useless nowadays, it sounds like a great opportunity for disenfranchised workers in America.

Go down the unemployment list, call and look for skilled laborers..

Solution?..Maybe... although I'm open to idea's and constructive criticism. Just something different than, loan a failing idea more money in hopes its not REALLY failing.
