Former President Papadopoulos dies
At the age of 74, the former president of Cyprus, Tassos Papadopoulos, died today, the 12th of December, of small cell lung cancer. He was kept in the general hospital of Nicosia for days (since the 22nd of November), where doctors did their best to keep him alive.
He served as a President of the Republic of Cyprus from the 28th of February 2003, to the 28th of February 2008, and did all he could to solve the problem of the division of his island.
it is a shame indeed he did not manage to live on to see his country free; he definitely deserved it and was amongst those who fought the most for Cyprus, the country he loved and valued a lot.
