Sound-off |
When will we cease to notice the color of skin?
I am concerned ann saddened by the way race always becomes an issue in the media. I am the Mother of a blended family, my husband and I have adopted children of different races. I am so tired of people telling me that my children should be "proud Black men" . Why can't they just be proud MEN! Their accomplishments and the content of their character is what I want them to be proud of. They had nothing to do with being born black. I had nothing to do with being born white, so I am not proud of it. I am proud of my family ancesters, not because of what color they are, but because of what wonderful values and lessons they have passed down to me. I plan to pass them along to my children. Don't get me wrong, I know that history has been unkind to minorities, But I believe that we can all rise above the past and now, with equal rights, can begin to heal and be togeather as one America. I think anyone, black or white, that puts down other races, should be called RACEST and shunned. The truth is, we are all the same, no matter the color. Love is colorblind, so try to love more and judge less. Only God is our true Judge.
