MAY BE HIS LAST CHRISTMAS-ANNIVERSARY
My beloved Husband and I will celebrate 33 years of marriage on Sat Dec 20th. Because of the way our State of Wisconsin and Federal Government programs and help are structured, this may be his last year alive. Gary has worked for over 30 years, raised a family of 3 daughters, and has 11 granchildren. We started young at 20 years of age. Gary got diabetes 3 years ago and in March of 2007 he had a toxic reaction to a quit smoking drug that gave him seizures. Since Mar 2007 his diabetes has been uncontrollable with 3 insulins 4-5 times a day. He is ill everyday and his vision has suffered with one eye 20/200 and the other 20/50. As in most he was denied Social Security and is awaiting a court hearing. He will exhaust his Cobra Health & Drug Insurance on Dec 31st 2008. They won't extend the additional 11 months becasue he needs a letter from Social Security saying he is disabled. They offered Health Ins at $1400.00 a month without Drug Coverage. Right now we pay $1500-$2000 a month for his health Insurance and Prescriptions. He will die without his Insulin. I applied thru the county but they DO NOT account for the medical expenses spent each month to get help. To get state Medicaid they need a letter from Social Security Disability. There it is again a catch 22. What have we paid all our taxes for when we get no help???? We have filed bancruptcy, used all his 401K and lost our home to foreclosure. Now what are we suppose to do. I call the state agencies for help but they always take into account the income without medical expenses each month. I feel that is not right at all. Now what am I going to do to help my beloved husband. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I just want him to get what he is entitled to after working his whole life.
