Riots in Greece: Larissa
The recent riots in Greece are something Greece hasn's seen for more than 30 years now, since the fall of the Junta in the 70's. The riots and the following violence was not only in Athens or Thessaloniki, the two biggest cities in Greece, but in many cities throughout the country. One of these cities is Larissa.
The photos were taken on Sunday, December 7, after a big march and demonstration in Larissa that was followed by riots and violence, mainly against banks and the City Hall. The next days, the Larissa Medical School was occupied and still remains. Outside the building there is a little boat (boats were traditionally decorated during Christmas) but soon, it was used to demonstrate different slogans about the death of "Gregory" but there hasn't been any violence. Most of the banks in Larissa have been smashed and burned, and slogans like the one in the picture ("City guerillas, the war goes on!" appear everywhere in the city.
This year's Christmas are not going to be the same for all Greece...
