Festivus Pole Displayed at Illinois Capitol
In light of recent events, a local 18 year old Springfield resident got a permit to put a festivus pole up in the state capitol, where a controversial nativity scene and atheist message have already been put up. Michael Tennenhouse, an ACLU member who observes Festivus, did so to point out the flaws of allowing any religious symbols to be placed in government property. The poster that was displayed along with the traditional aluminum pole also mockingly references the impeachment committee taking place a few feet away from the pole.
