Am I the only person in America who has never heard of Eartha Kitts???? I was stunned by the outpouring of emotions from those touched by the passing of Eartha Kitts. Stunned because I honestly have never heard of her. I am stunned that I have never heard of her after reading about this most remarkable woman. Ok, I need to explain that during the late 70's to late 90's, I pretty much removed myself from mainstream culture and didn't have access to a lot of media. During parts of that time I also didn't have access to american radio and I rejected television as a corrupter of the mind. I can't believe what I missed in Eartha Kitts. With a name that I could embrace, and a soul that I could adore, I honestly never knew the name of the woman who played catwoman (I really preferred real men like David Cassidy to superheros like Batman) or the woman who so soulfully sang the song "Santa Baby". This is the song I have played over and over this holiday season! Ok, it's Everclear's version, but I love this song!

I thought it would be fun to play this song and film cnn simultaneously. I apologize that this is so crude. You can see I am plugged in now, in the new millenium. (Everything you see except for the tv was bought at a yard sale. The tv is the crappiest thing you see, and was purchased at Walmart. I will not make that mistake again.)

Notice how much more time is spent on fluff (religion on the web) than anything relevant on the news?

Eartha Kitts deserves all the attention she is getting this week. Even though I never heard of her, she has touched the lives of so many Americans. Way to go, catwoman!
