Scenic Train Ride in Skagway, Alaska
Traveled on the Skagway White Pass & Yukon Route Railway in July, 2007. Very scenic. The railway was built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush. It is a very narrow gauge railroad and is considered an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. The WP&YR climbs nearly 3000 feet with steep grades, cliff-hanging turns, tunnels and bridges. Video was taken by me outside the railcar and gives you a brief taste of what the ride was like.
