Israel self-defense war against Terrorism and Hamas | Op. Cast Lead

            Points-of-view of a complex conflict.
US Vice-President Dick Cheney defended the Israeli ground assault; In an interview with CBS television, Mr Cheney said air attacks were not enough to destroy the sites from which militants were firing rockets into Israel.Israel did not want this war. It is conducted across the border from home, and against a population that will be there forever. But IDF has no choice: with Hezbollah in the north (propelled by Iran), the Syria on the west, and the sore Gaza on the south, there is simply no other solution to this mess. From the historic point-of-view, it has all the justifications of the Western type-of-war analogy and considerations in the books: all diplomatic means were exhausted, the military action is the only solution and the goals of the military operation can be achieved, in order to change realities and a more comprehensive long political and diplomatic solution to be implemented.
Senior Israeli military sources declared it is unrealistic to stop all the rocket fire. But the Israeli army, (IDF, the most powerfully in the Middle East) believes it can be decreased, and made less accurate, thanks to what he called boots on the ground. The objective, is not to recapture the Gaza Strip, but to free the Palestinian in Gaza from the Hamas opression.
    > Israeli President Shimon Peres said that the goal of the current operation was not just to stop the continuing rocket fire from Gaza, but to put a halt to terror worldwide. "Terror is a worldwide problem, and it is ours as well," Peres said.
    > U.S. President George W. Bush branded the daily Hamas rocket attacks on Israel an "act of terror" and outlined his own condition for a cease-fire in Gaza, saying no peace deal would be acceptable without monitoring to halt the flow of smuggled weapons to terrorist groups.
THE TERRORIST ARE CONTINUALLY FIRING ROCKETS, MISSILES AND MORTAR ROUNDS FROM CIVILIAN AREAS IN GAZA INTO CIVILIAN ISRAELI AREAS (FROM GAZA); SINCE 2002: MORE THAN 6,000+ DEVICES LANDED IN ISRAEL. "Hamas operatives are in the hospital and have disguised themselves as nurses and doctors,"one official said. OC Military Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin told the cabinet that Hamas was using mosques, public institutions and private homes as ammunition stores. Since 1948, Israel is fighting for survival, for peace and co-existence in the most difficult neighborhood in the entire world. Israel it's a very small country, a democratic and flourishing society in a sea of Arabs and Muslims. It is the only true democracy in the region. This operation has to bring fundamental changes in the security in the South (Israel) and change fundamentally the Hamas political and military behavior. • Operation Cast Lead target and scopeis to bring fundamental changes in the security in the South and change fundamentally the Hamas behavior. As per Israeli Ministry of Defense declaration, the actual Israeli operation has three goals:
    • 1. To stop Hamas rocket attacks,
    • 2. To stop the smuggling of weapons from Egypt into Gaza,
    • 3. To thwart Hamas military activity in the Strip.
    • These goals of the military operations may have some political aims as well. Anyway, a political and diplomatic solution has to be week and implemented at the culmination of military operations. May or may not include toppling the Hamas regime as Livni has called for in recent weeks. At the same time the Palestinian Authority officials in Ramallah said that they were prepared to assume control over the Gaza Strip if Israel succeeds in overthrowing the Hamas " Israel's military actions in Gaza are entirely justified under international law, and Israel should be commended for its act of self-defense against international terrorism (Article 51)",said Harvard law professor Alan Derskowitz. The political and terrorism Hamas movement is to blame for all the Gaza suffering and the hostility initiations.
    • * The Hamas and affiliated terrorist groups are provoking constantly the Israelis, with many human lives lost, score injured and material damages. What will happen if Taiwan will daily shell main China, or Canada will fire rockets into U.S., or Ireland firing mortars into England proper, or a from a former soviet republic making an terrorist attack in Russia proper? See as well the U.S. response of terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
    • * They (Hamas) have hijacked the statehood aspiration of the Palestinian to a separate state, as other Arab states and organizations did many decades ago at the partition of Palestine in 1947-1948. * For peace you need at least to partners. You cannot make peace alone. Israel retired the military administration and the civilians/colons from the territory a few years ago, only to find out that a terrorist group will take charge.
    • * The Israelis want peace and peace is mentioned everywhere in the Jewish culture and the Torah. More than 2,700 years ago the Solomon Kingdom, was established on the most important passage from Asia to Africa, and between important empires. The area has seen constantly many conflicts, due to political and religious issues.
    • * One has to understand the tendencies, the history, the customs of the Middle East, along with its long history, before expressing an opinion.
    • * - The international media is always bias about Israel. Many Israeli Organization and NGO have criticized international media outlets who were not giving sufficient voice to Israel's position on the actual fighting in Gaza. As ever, in this modern world, the soft war, read the mass-media war, is part of the ground operations, diplomacy and political attitudes. * The Palestinian has to emancipate them self and become a peaceful nation. If they need help, the can have the support of the Arab and Muslim World. * - The terrorist infrastructures (Hamas and Hezbollah) are placed in densely populated areas, with the precise aim of having the civilian as a shield. THEIR ARMED FORCES ARE MANY TIMES UN-UNIFORMED AND CONSIDERED BY OTHER ORGANIZATION (U.N. UNRWA) AS CIVILIANS OR SYMPATHIZER. Simply, the civilians are hijacked and used as human shields for military operation, with the hope than the causalities (and possible disturbing images) will force the international opinion to side with them. (Images are powerful weapons: as it happened since WWI, WWII, Vietnam War until The Second Lebanon War 2006).
    • * - They were signed agreement with the Hamas not to introduce heavy weapon in Gaza: as missiles, rockets, mortars, witch are used against the Israeli civilians in the areas adjacent to the Gaza.
    • * - Collective Palestinian punishment: *how WE HAVE TO CONSIDER the state of affairs in all the cities and villages in Israel: more than 1,000.000 Israelis are in range and in danger of the deadly missiles? AND WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL CLASSES IN ISRAEL THAT HAVE TO BE CONDUCTED IN BUNKERS?IS THIS A NORMAL SITUATION? IS NOT THIS COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT FROM HAMAS AND THE PALESTINIAN TERRORISM?

      * - The civilians and majority in Gaza or Lebanon are not only physically hijacked but also morally, cultural and are a target of a strong religious physiological warfare process: one can see how many suicidal volunteers are operating around the world, from Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other places.
    • * - Hamas and Hezbollah are simply proxy's asymmetrical military forces of Iran and other Arab/Muslim-oil exporting countries, who supply them with arms and financial support. Without this help (based indirectly by our addiction to oil), there will be no political, religious or military movement.
    • * - The peace process on the Palestinian side is hijacked by terrorists, by political interest groups and by "friendly" countries and based on an educational system with a totally twisted version of truth, modernity and reality.
    • * - Israel tried with the Palestinians all the pacific gestures in the books: diplomacy, humanitarian operations, freedom of administration, recognition, economic and cultural help, end even weapons and training. Nothing works, it seems. The terrorism is not defeated by acts of kindness or a pacific movement: this is not Gandhi pacific movement in India against the British Empire. Please consider the Gilad Shalit story! The release of captured soldier Gilad Schalit in any future cease-fire agreement.
    • * - The main Palestinian terrorism effort, from North (Hezbollah) to South (Hamas) is direct mainly to Israeli civilians. In Gaza Strip many of the registered civilian casualties are simply Hamas camouflaged operatives. The UN defines civilian, as a non uniformed terrorist firing rockets, in jeans and t-shirts! Hamas terrorists don't always wear military uniforms. Hamas's cynicism is manifest in its use of hospitals and mosques as centers of war, and in the fact that its gunmen are fighting out of uniform - determinedly blurring any distinction between combatant and civilian.
    • * - Israel does not target civilians! They are unwanted, a collateral damage, due to the (Hamas) terrorism form of urban and asymmetric fighting, for placing their operations in civilian areas. As the operations are permitted, many warnings are issued to civilian and the military areas.
    • * - Hamas and Islamic Jihad, along with other terrorist entities, simply, plainly and with purposehide behind a human shield (civilians). Some of the civilians did vote and collaborate with the Hamas "civilian administration". Some other are simply forced and coerced by the Hamas political,

    • To reclaim its credibility, the UN must not repeat the mistakes it committed during the summer of 2006, when it legitimized and emboldened Hezbollah and its sponsors, Iran and Syria." (Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen / US Congress) IDF assessments are that Hamas has smuggled into Gaza a significant amount of anti-tank missiles. Officials said that Hamas was believed to still have thousands of Kassam rockets as well as a significant number of Grad-model Katyushas. Top officers would not rule out the possibility that Hamas may also have rockets with ranges greater that 40 kilometers. Hamas is also believed to have advanced anti-tank missiles as well as a number of shoulder-to-air missiles. > MD Ehud Barak: "I never believed war was thebest option...I'm the defense minister, not the war minister," he said. "As a fighter and commander I know personally what it feels like to lose a fellow combatant. I'm not trigger happy, maybe even the opposite." However, Barak added that although Israel was not interested in war, it had come to the conclusion that a military operation was necessary. "I want to make it clear that we did not set out on this military operation because of revenge or rage... The security establishment has been preparing for such an operation for many months," he said.Olmert spoke with President George W. Bush and promised him Israel is working to avoid harm to Gazan civilians. Bush emphasized that "Hamas must stop the missiles." "We must reach a long-term and stable cease-fire Hamas will honor," Bush said. For all the rhetoric of the demonstrations and international mass-media against Israel, this war was provoked and imposedon Israel by Hamas. This is a very difficult war, in a very complicated environment and period of our lives.
    • GAZA (Reuters) -JAN 03, 2009 (DAY 8TH) Israeli troops clashed with Hamas fighters as they advanced into Gaza on Saturday in the first ground combat of an eight-day offensive on the Palestinian enclave, witnesses and the Israeli army said. Large numbers of forces were involved in the operation, including infantry, tanks, engineers, artillery and intelligence, the military said in a statement. "The objective is to destroy the Hamas terror infrastructure in the area of operations," Major Avital Leibovitch said. GAZA (Reuters) -
    • JAN.04, 2009 - DAY 09:Israeli tanks and infantry battled Hamas fighters in the Gaza Strip on Sunday in a ground offensive launched after eight days of deadly air strikes failed to halt the Islamic group's rocket attacks on Israel. Large columns of Israeli tanks, backed by aircraft, pushed deep into the territory, and Israel's navy prevented travel along Gaza's coastal road, witnesses said, effectively cutting the enclave in half. (WASHINGTON)- U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, spoke by telephone Saturday with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, reaffirming her support for Israel's ongoing actions to stop attacks upon its citizens by violent Islamic extremists in Gaza. " The United States and other responsible nations must take a stand against the forces of hatred and intolerance who target democratic nations like Israel. We must hold Hamas and its state sponsors accountable and compel them to immediately and unconditionally stop their deplorable behavior which threatens Israel, as well as regional and global peace and security" said Ros-Lehtinen in a media release.
    • New York Mayor Michael Bloombergflew to Israel Sunday for a daylong trip to express solidarity with Israelis threatened by Hamas rockets and back the strikes against the militant group. In a telephone interview with The Associated Press, Bloomberg said he fully understood Israel's actions. "You should rest assured, if anyone in New York was being threatened, my instruction to the NYPD (New York police) would be to use all the resources at their disposal to protect civilians," Bloomberg said.
    • Gary Ackerman, a member of the U.S. Congress (Chair of the subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia) said the onus of the civilian deaths was on Hamas for using them as human shields. "They have been the main victimizers of the innocent Palestinian people by inviting these kinds of attacks." French President Nicolas Sarkozytold three Lebanese newspapers that Hamas bore "a heavy responsibility for the sufferings of the Palestinian people" and that its rocket attacks had to stop."
