Roland Burris - Poor Judgement?
A few responses after watching Don Lemon's interview with former Illinois AG, Roland Burris.
How could Roland Burris in good judgement accept the Senate seat? If Governor Bagojevich were being investigated for something unrelated it would be one thing, but he's in hot water for selling that very senate seat.
Yes, you are innocent until proven guilty. But in politics, rumors alone are bad enough, much less an actual investigation. Burris should know this, but he's accepting the seat in spite of it.
Even if he is seated as a senator, what could he accomplish for the people of Illinois when his office is surrounded by a shroud of controversy?
He should have turned down the seat publicly and that would have at least been respected and left him open to be appointed by the next governor or by the state senate.
Then again maybe he's betting that Governor Bagojevich will beat the RAP and he'll get to keep the seat. I'm sure the governor now has at least one friend that's willing to defend him.
