Simple Diabetes Prevention in the New Year

Losing weight and eating healthier top the list of New Year's resolutions each year for many Americans.  However, hitting the gym may do more than just tone your abs -- it could also help prevent you from being vulnerable to becoming an alarming health statistic.

Diabetes is a serious illness in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin.   It affects more than 23.6 million Americans -- yet, about one-fourth of the individuals with the disease are unaware they have it.

Diabetes can lead to serious complications and premature death, but people with diabetes can take steps in the New Year to control the disease and lower the risk of developing complications. Getting tested could be the best resolution for your body this year.
