    Masking feelings and faces

A new year, new resolutions, new perspectives, new  agendas....

    SAME OLD MASKS

One of these decades, one of these lifetimes it WILL come to pass that we can, as a species, relate, agree, co exist and flourish.

I had great hopes in my youth, but time wears each of us down, slowly grinding away at any notion of civility and humanity in our lifetime.

One need only look at headlines today, yesterday or even the upcoming for tomorrow to note that there has been little progress, there is little intention and there is no force on the planet that can require us to be civilized.

    War, famine, despair and dread.

Is there no one among us willing? Is there no inspiration or heart for us?

Sleep with the dogs, wake with the dogs.

For me, it cannot be said that patience and courage are enough. Belief and hope are all that remain, yet each in their belief seem unwilling to allow anyone else the same opportunity.

So long as disagreement and disharmony reign, all we can do is be courageous enough individually to show compassion, courtesy and try to be good role models for those in our worlds.

Perhaps the US is the guilty party, for it is always the country deemed responsible for the root of the problem, the country looked at for solution, the only hope and the only terrorist.

I, for one, am sick of it all. So many turn their backs and decide to live only for themselves. So many choose only to stir the fire, never tend the hearth.

May God forgive us our sins, regardless of the nature of our religion, and perhaps, one day, we can truly appreciate the new sunrise and bask in the glory of simply existing in some greyish shade of civility and peace.

Until that time, I hope each of us has the capacity to be tolerant, to be trustworthy, to show compassion and to be courageous enough to believe in something better.

And I know in my heart that God sheds a tear for our weak souls, but is ever hopeful.
