Laid Off
For the first time in my working career I was laid off from work in November. I saw the down turn first hand as I worked for a company that ran background checks for employers. With each passing month in 2008 we saw our business decline to a grinding halt. Layoffs took place and I now find myself looking for full time employment. It is definitely a sobering experience and so far the job hunt is not going well. A local factory plant in our area has seen job applications rise three fold. Applicants for one position have been as high as 60. Now that is what you call tough competition. As much as I've tried to stay hopeful I lost that battle a long time ago.
