This iReport is part of an assignment:
Obama's debt cutting plan |
Underemployed
My name is Eric,
My job/role went away in May 2008 as part of a corporate consolidation. My former company eFunds was acquired by Fidelity National Information Services.
I never envisioned that my job search would take so long, and its still ongoing. The Fall was very frustrating as companies put everything on hold with the economy falling apart.
You hear 'horror' stories of 300+ resumes being submitted for the most basic job. Very challenging prospect to get your resume read. The key activity to obtain quality interviews is networking. Unfortunately it is a slow process.
Financially we had a large rainy day fund, so making it so far.. need to find a job soon. A guess the challenge at present is going after 'job' or continuing to pursue career opportunities.
Cheers,
Eric in Arizona
