    Does the album hold up?

    REM Life's Rich Pageant

When I am looking for artfelt inspiration to lift me up, I can still depend on the old IRS years. REM will always be that best friend from my teen years that I will never forget.

REM was intelligent in a sublimely poetic way. They had an Earthy feel that made them believable. The rank twangy, upbeat, raw yet melodic layers left me wanting to listen to thier albums over and over to catch new undertones or lyric phrases. As plain and backwoods as REM sounds at face value, the depth in what they put into the albums for "art sake" still holds mysterious meanings and inspirations that spark my imagination and motivate me artistically.

To this day, I take time and find pleasure losing myself in music listening to those old REM albums on repeat.
