Oprah Sparks Vibrator Shopping Frenzy
The Oprah Winfrey show that aired on 1-9-09 featured Dr. Laura Berman who discussed better sex and presented two vibrators from her sex toy line. These vibrators, the Aphrodite (nicknamed the sure thing) and the Adonis, after being discussed on the show has led to an absolute shopping frenzy for these products.
Holistic Wisdom, Inc. which has a popular sex education web site is just one example of sites that were flooded with orders for them. Holistic Wisdom founder, Lisa Lawless, PhD, has said that within minutes of the show airing, they were inundated with people wanting to know how fast they could receive the popular vibrator.
Lawless, who has been a speaker on the Dr. Laura Berman radio show, said of the phenomenon, "It is just great to see Laura speaking out about what so many of us sex educators want to say to women and their partners. It is important that women realize that they can enjoy all the wonderful pleasures of sexuality and that there are many products that can help them have great sex with or without a partner."
It turns out that so many people have been ordering the Aphrodite that the manufacturer has sold out of them and the manufacturer has said that they will not be getting more in until early March. Waiting lists for the product have now begun.
What many people do not realize, however, is that the manufacturer also makes this product in a different color without the Berman label on it. It is the same sex toy essentially; it is just not private labeled with Berman's name.
Holistic Wisdom has found that once they tell customers this, many customers are buying those instead of waiting for the Berman version. "We are not only able to show customers the Aphrodite vibrator, but we can now show so many women the sex toys that are being designed just for them. The sexual products being made today are outstanding and tasteful, from the Hitachi Magic Wand, to the LELO vibrators that are like the Lexus of sex toys."
"One thing, we like to warn people about is that many sex toys on the market contain toxins," said Lawless. "We are a green sex toy company that offers only non-toxic sex toys but most companies are still selling the products that contain toxins such a phthalates. That is why we provide free sex toy education people really need to read about. We outline what is toxic and what is not so that even if they shop with another store, they know what to stay away from. I hope that this will soon be covered on Oprah as well as many people are in such need of education, not just about their sexuality, but sex toys as well."
Oprah plans to do more follow up on sexual health, so it should have a positive affect on sex toy manufacturers, particularly the Laura Berman sex toy line.
