This iReport is part of an assignment:
Does the album hold up? |
Not my first, but a game changer
This album really bridged the gap between the music I listened to before (all the 80s hair bands like Poison and Bon Jovi, with some new wave Depeche Mode thrown in for fun) to the grunge and alternative bands that were popping up all over the place. It caused me to listen to music I ignored before, and led me to discover Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, even though R.E.M. was nothing like those bands. It may not make much sense on paper, but here was a band that was nothing like the glitz and glamor of the hairbands, and I think that's what appealed to me most.
