Does the album hold up? |
The Album That Made Me Love Music
1977. I was nine that year, and in fourth grade. For part of our general music class, the teacher would ask students to bring albums from home to play for the rest of the class. Some kid brought in this album that had a weirdo cover...I mean there was some robot on the front apparently killing the band members! Up until then, my music exposure was mostly assuredly not rock of ANY kind, and certainly not glam rock.
And then the opening tune...We Will Rock You. Some guy who sang like a guy, but also sang like a girl! I wasn't privy to musical terms like "falsetto" at nine years of age.
Anyway, News of the World by Queen was obviously the album. I loved Queen's music instantaneously. As a kid, I listened over and and over again to We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions.
It's still one of my favorites today. God Bless Freddie Mercury!
