This iReport is part of an assignment:
Look back at Bush's legacy |
Bush too naive to grasp the damage done
After eight long years of this president it is hard to look back and find anything that has improved under his leadership. Nobody likes to be called a failure, but in this situation I struggle to find another appropriate description.
Most frustrating to me is that President Bush neglects to admint any responsibility for the situation he has caused and continues to insist the circumstances before and leading up to his presidency, along with Sept. 11th, are the underlying reasons for the situation the nation finds itself in and that he was more or less just along for the ride. Hearing him repeadetly state that history will vindicate his judgements and performance is a slap in the face to the millions suffering under the conditions he created today.
After eight years of mistakes and the drastic repercussions they have caused, the public is too weary to speak up and remind him of his failures. It's like we are so whipped and tired from such an awful eight years that we don't even have the energy to stand up and put our true feelings of disgust and anger on display. We are simply running on fumes, riding out the last few days, and embracing a long overdue change in leadership.
A person of Bush's intelligence and experience should never have qualified to run for this office. Our poliitcal system is so tainted with partisan strategy and money that he was able to be elected twice, and sadly was naive enough to think that he was up to the task. Elections have become more popularity contest than public service, and for the next decade or more we will be paying the price for the damage this leader has done. He has earned every bit of the title - Worst President Ever.
