Look back at Bush's legacy |
Farewell to Bush and thanks for helping to bring about the dream
Dear Cnn:
Thank you for bringing this wonderful historical moment into my home as my heart is there with so many other Americans of like minds. As a black woman I remember as a little girl living in the South seeing and living some of the struggles of African Americans. One story in summer of 1959 I shall never forget when my mother, my sisters were shopping in downtown Houston’s Woolworth store. I remember passing by the counter and seeing the large glasses of ice cream shakes and desiring one so I ask my mother if she would buy one she replied no but I ask her again and she slap me in the face and said that we were not allow to eat there and that it was for whites only. As we boarded the back of the bus to head home, for the first time I began to look at whites people differently. As a seven year old it was then that I started to pay attention to the signs on the walls whites only, restaurant whites only, restrooms, white only. The next year on February 1, 1960, four African-American students sat down at a segregated lunch counter in a Greensboro, North Carolina Woolworth's store. They were refused service, touching off six months of sit-ins and economic boycotts that became a landmark event in the U.S. civil-rights movement. A change had come to America.
For me to be a witness and have this testimony in history that a black man is now the Commander & Chief of America in my life time God truly deserves the Glory for this moment. He has answered a little girl's prayers who grew up with racism I knew that one day a change would come but I never expected this.
Please allow me to say a word about President Bush and to thank him for all that his presidents has done or not done to bring about change in America. Thank you Sir, because of you Enron, World Com, Madoff others like them and their unlawful acts have been revealed for the all to see. Your destiny as our forty third President and the way you lead this country help to bring about this historic change in my life time. Thank you for helping to bring about the MLK dream in my life time I now am living the dream.
Change has come to Americans.
Thank God for Barack Obama.
