    Life is a Gas in Gas, Kansas

    Gas is a small town located in Southeastern Kansas on Highway 54.  It covers less than a square mile and has a population of about 600 people.

     

    Citizens raise money to maintain the local park through an annual yard sale and souvenirs sold in the  town and online at www.zazzle.com/GasKansas

     

     

     

     

    The town was originally named "Gas City" due to the natural gas found in the area, but there is no longer enough pressure for commercial drilling to take place.  Some residents however have their own natural gas wells, a welcome respite in a time of rising fuel prices.
