Plane down in Hudson River |
Life Preserver frozen on the Hudson River 2 Days Later
On Saturday morning, two days after the United Airlines crash, the Hudson was frozen.
I was walking along the river and spotted this life preserver, frozen in ice, washed up on shore between Pier 52 and Pier 54 during low tide. It looks like the ones I've seen on the NY Waterways ferries, rather than the airplane, so I imagine it was thrown from one of the first responder boats.
It's been a few years since it froze like this, and I couldn't help but
think what the plane's landing would have been like on chunks of ice.
Another bit of luck to add to the story.
