Polaroid memories[1] |
Swinger Days
In 1967, my parents gave me a Polaroid Swinger. I was in high school, planning to go into a fine art program at the University. I fell in love with that camera, those curly photos, that sticky gel.
I went into painting, but soon went back to photography. I have had many Polaroid cameras and have loved every one. My favorite, a SE SX70, was purchased to enter a Polaroid sponsored "win a porshe" competition in 1985. I received two second place awards and to this day, can't believe how close I came to winning a car.
Although I am a digital shooter today, I will always remember working with Polaroid film as some of the most artistic fun I had with the medium. I have missed those days for years now, but will truely feel the loss when it is officially gone from the shelves.
The Swinger days were lived in Detroit, Mich, but since 1980, I have lived in San Francisco, CA
