Inauguration: Your view of history |
Disappointing, Disgusting, Pathetic Inauguration Experience
My mother and I traveled from the Bay Area, California, to
attend this
ceremony. We looked forward to this event for months and
months. We had tickets in the Blue Section, and began standing inline at 8 am this morning, amongst thousands and thousands of
people. We stood in the overcrowded, claustrophobic street for four
hours, side by side thousands and thousands, rarely moving. We were
ushered by only one single sign "towards the blue gate," and we
ultimately moved less than a thousand feet in the four hours. We never even made it to the Blue Gate of the inauguration
grounds. There were absolutely no security or police officials to
offer help or guidance. Nothing at all. The crowds around us
cheered "Let Us In!" continuously, to no avail. The entire experience was extremely disappointing, and I am
utterlydisgusted and appalled at the organization and preparation of
this event. It tainted my entire perspective of our capital's
competence.
