Inauguration: Your view of history |
Let us in! Let us in!
Check out this pic! Every single one of them (and me) had Purple tickets for the Inauguration. This pic was snapped at noon on Jan 20 and NONE of us even got to the first security gate. Many of them had been standing in line since 4am. No organization; no direction from DC Police; no exaplanation; just signs of poor planning and dissapointment for all of us. We followed the rules as we knew them. Why didn't they open the gates at 6am or do pre- screening before the cattle corals. Luckily, we all stayed calm and mostly jovial. If Homeland Security can't even move a few hundred thousand peacful, ticketed people into a planned event, how in the world can we ever expect them to move millions of people out of a city during an emergency? Billions of dollars spent on Homeland Security and they can't even get a cop with blow horn to tell us what was going on. I'm glad that Change has come, but sorry I missed out on history. ~Rick Haverkate
