    Inauguration: Your view of history

I Married Her on the National Mall at Obama's Inauguration

January 20, 2009 was a momentous date not only for our new President Barack Obama, but also for the union of Ifetayo TaMiko Condoll and Jeremiah Blount, Jr. On Barack Obama's election night, Ifetayo and Jeremiah decided to be wed January 20th, among the unprecedented numbers of supporters expected to attend the inauguration. The couple originally planned to be married on January 29th, their joint birthday. However, for Jeremiah, a fourth grade teacher at Atlanta's Walter White Elementary School, and Ifetayo, a full time college student; the opportunity to link destiny and history proved irresistible. Therefore, the two arranged to lodge with Jeremiah's sister and brother-in-law in Maryland. The fiances searched the Internet, where they located Reverend Starlene Burns, a local D.C. minister, and flew to Washington to meet with her on the same day they applied for their marriage license.

On January 20th, Miss Condoll, a New Orleans native, daughter of Mr. Robert Delone and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny and Juanita Wilson, Sr., and mother of Akanke McKinsey; and Jeremiah Blount, Jr., a Chicago native and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah and Florence Blount, Sr., were married on the Washington National Mall in a small ceremony attended by several long-time friends, family members, and 2.5 million of their newest friends - President Barack Obama among them.

Making the day that much more spectacular, January 20th also commemorated the birthday of Jeremiah's mother, Mrs. Florence Blount.
