This iReport is part of an assignment:
Obama's cabinet |
Geithner - Fox in charge of Henhouse?
Folks, I'm a big Obama supporter. I believe, OK. As such, I wouldn't risk a tarnish to the potential this administration has to brighten our impression of American political process and the integrity of its officials.
To be appointed a cabinet position is a high honor. Let's find deserving folks without ethical compromises. Let's get some exemplary individuals.
I'm not saying he intentionally cheated. But he himself says it was careless, unintentional and avoidable. Yeah, so was the crash of our entire financial system due to careless financial managers asleep at the helm.
As a finance professional, I think it's unacceptable to sign a letter acknowledging your responsibility to pay your social security taxes with your personal tax return, then forget to do so, then get caught for two of the four years you didn't pay, then pay only for the two years you were audited while the omission applied to all four years, only to finally pay within days of being tapped for a cabinet position, and then be put in charge of the Treasury?
No, sorry, and I'm sorry to lose a smart guy. They say a WIZARD! But now is not the time to risk our reputation, to make exceptions for people we favor, especially so-called financial wizards. How short are our memories anyway.
