BITS AND PIECES OF HOPE - 2009
En explanation/meaning:
I have a great appreciation for the historical events of the past few months. I believe that President Obama offers something to us all - Americans and humans all over the world that has been lacking for some time - HOPE.
We have forgotten how to dream and how to jump start, not only our individual HOPE system, but we have failed to express to the youth of our world that HOPE is worth the effort and that efforts .....big and SMALL do make a difference. We are not without HOPE. I am grateful to this man, Barack Obama, for engaging our youth in not only the political and social part of our society, but also for his efforts in showing that our personal hopes and dreams, while individual, should be addressed and cultivated.
There are many "dark" things in our world that loom around us...global warming, wars, the economy, unemployment, crime....BUT, there is light in HOPE and while he is a mere man and it would be ignorant to think that he will fix all our big problems in first short 4 year term, it must be recognized that his power for inspiring others is great...and the inspiration of the masses is what will bring about change.
Therefore - this is a depiction of all the things that youthful innocence embodies to me, and how, with some firm yet gentle guidence, a metamorphosis can take place and that unbridled power can spread light, hope and change into the world.
This piece is comprised of paint and recycled items in an attempt to contribute to a cause that I feel passionately about ....saving our earth's resources....Not to mention being HOPEFULL!
I call it: "Bits and Pieces of Hope - 2009
