    Breckenridge Snow Sculptures

    Breckenridge, Colo (iReport)  Each year the city of Breckenridge. Colorado, USA, hosts a snow sculpting championship. Teams from around the world fly themselves to Denver, Colorado where they are collected by sponsors who provide food and housing while they are in town for the competion.

     

    Each 5 person team has 65 hours to sculpt a 20 ton, 12 foot high (about 3.7 meters) block of compacted snow into a work of art using only their hands and unpowered tools. In other words, there are no screaming chainsaws destroying the peace of this pristine mountain community.

     

    Winners of the event are selected by a panel of judges as well as voting by the public.
