Many In Military Not Feeling Hope

To say that the majority of our Military is apprehensive about our new Commander In Chief is probably the biggest understatement of 2009.

According to a poll done by Military.com 70% of those that participated said that they do not trust Obama. Many doubt his ability to successfully run our Military.

Many in the Military were angered when they found out that their Commander In Chief did not even care enough to make a appearance at the Salute To Heroes Inaugural Ball. A ball that has been attended by every President since Eisenhower.

The president and first lady, for the first time in those ensuing 56 years, did not make an appearance at the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball. In attendance at the gala were 48 of the 99 living recipients of our nation's highest honor. Of the 99 who are still with us, not even half are in any condition or possess the wherewithal to travel to such an event. And by the next inauguration, likely half of those won't be with us.

Making this evening even more special was the fact that it is the 50th anniversary of the Medal of Honor Society.

The new president's perceived "slights" against the military have made veterans and military members quite sensitive to how President Obama treats them. From calling for a pullout from Iraq during the campaign to forgoing a visit to injured GWOT vets in Germany, we have kept an eye on his every move and decision with regards to our nation's finest. This "change" appears to have set the tone for the rest of his administration. To forgo a tradition of greeting the veterans who've received the highest honor in order to attend galas featuring Hollywood elites was just a bit too much to bear.

Even in his inaugural address to the nation, he mentioned the sacrifices of veterans of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, but failed to mention (or deliberately ignored) the veterans of our current sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan. That gives more credence to the feeling that he just no longer cares about the sacrifices being made on behalf of our country and the service that so many Americans have made over the years.

And now with the closing of GITMO and Obama & Defense Secretary Robert Gates calling for Military spending to be cut by 25%. With Mr. Gates making statements like "One thing we have known for many months is the spigot of defense funding opened by 9/11 is closing." Many in our Military are very worried.

Mr. Gates can you really put a price on our Militaries safety. So when does our Military get our hope. Of all the people that deserve hope and change it is our brave men and women of our Armed Services. It is time to take care of the men and women that sacrifice to take care of us.

And President Obama since you are our Commander In Chief you should be the one to set the example. Please show our Military and our vets the respect and loyalty that they have earned. And while you are trying to fix world please remember to take good care of our Military.

Stop bailing everyone out and take care of our Militaries needs. We have earned it.
