    Bringing Families Together in America

I'm saddened and frustrated.  Everywhere I turn it seems that big business policies are designed to do everything except make it possible for Americans to build their families without the threat of foreclosure, significant debt or other types of loss. (* see below)  These policies force many families to go back to work leaving their loved ones to the care of strangers in order to make ends meet.  With foreclosures at an all-time high, credit card debt increasing daily for millions of Americans everyday, what plans do you have to ensure that reaching the American dream is indeed obtainable for every American, not just the rich?

*(For example, my husband and I (both long term teachers in New Jersey) decided to have a second child.  We applied for and were approved for short term disability in effort to protect our income while I am on a very short maternity leave.  Though we were approved in October and began paying for the policy in November, we were not officially enrolled until January 1st.  Wouldn't you know, my pregnancy was confirmed in late December and I am now denied coverage due to a "pre-existing condition" even though I'm not due until July 28th.  The company agreed to refund me a payment since I had a few "extra" payments deducted from my check prior official enrollment rather than changing my enrollment date to provide me coverage.)
